What’s up guys we’re back with another recipe and this is one of my all time favorites and it’s so easy. Who doesn’t like beef on a stick. So simple, literally every culture in the world has some version of beef on a stick because it’s delicious. Pay attention, take some notes, and be the talk of your watch party with this recipe.
Ingredients - This may look like a lot of ingredients, but the marinade is so flexible. If you don’t have mirin, or rice vinegar, or fish sauce it’s really no big deal. You can use any type of vinegar and it will turn out okay. Just make sure you have soy sauce, brown sugar and garlic and these will come out just fine. (But it obviously is better the way I do it 😉)
Steak (I use sirloin, but you really can use whatever you want as long as you slice it thing. The beauty of this recipe is you can buy a cheaper cut of steak and no one will notice.)
Green onions
Sesame seeds
Garlic
Brown sugar
Soy sauce
Rice vinegar
Fish sauce
Hoisin sauce
Mirin
Red pepper flakes
Sesame oil
Notice no where in this recipe are there skewers. You can use them if you want and it will be beef on a stick, but you don’t need them. Fuck the stick and put that meat right on the grill. (If you really do want to use wooden skewers for the look, make sure you soak them in water for at least 30 min before using. They will burn if you don’t)
Step 1 - slice your steak as thin as possible and cut them into, roughly one inch strips. Idea is to have long, skinny strips just like the ladies like it
Step 2 - take about 2 heaping table spoons of brown sugar per pound of meat and rub your meat down. Salt and pepper your meat as well
Step 3 - marinate your meat. I unfortunately don’t measure when I cook (I’m hard like that), but you can mess around a bit with the taste as you go. It’s not more than 2-3 table spoons of anything. But take your soy sauce (base of the marinade), hoisin, fish sauce (use a very small amount), rice vinegar, mirin, sesame oil, garlic (oh yeah, mince garlic real quick and throw it in), red pepper flakes and pour it over your beef. Marinate for at least an hour, but I would aim for 3 hours.
Step 4 - dice your green onion for garnish
Step 5 - get your grill going. Make sure it’s really hot before you begin grilling. We are dealing with thin slices so we don’t want these to be on the grill very long because they will dry out. But we do want that nice char and grill marks.
Step 6 - grill meat for 2-3 minutes each side
Step 7 - put them on a plate. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions and serve. These are killer I’m telling you
