Alessandro Costa vs Andres Luna Martinetti
Alessandro is the current Lux fight league 125 pound champ. Costa is 26 years old and he’s 10-2. He’s extremely fast and he is strong for the division. At only 5’3 he carries a good amount of muscle on him. He’s a submission fighter and has great takedowns, but we’ve really seen his striking shine in his last few fights. He has fast hands and has real power in his right. Throws good leg kicks and sticks to them. Alessandro is a little defensively vulnerable. He has been hit and dropped in multiple fights. Everything he does is with power and athleticism. Has ridiculous subs and he is creative
Martinetti is also 26 years old and he is 12-0 in his young career. He trains out of Nova Uniao and I saw he got some training in with Brendan Moreno last year. He’s got great submissions and his striking looks crisp as well. Good pop on his punches. He EATS leg kicks. Doesn’t check them well or move out of the way. Has fought very low level comp
I get why Costa is the favorite here. He is the superior athlete, will be the much faster and explosive fighter. I think this will trump and reach advantage Martinetti has. Costa cruises to a victory and possibly gets a finish here. Don’t be shocked if he has a scary moment or two getting rocked though
Dennis Buzukja vs Kaleio Romero
Dennis Buzukja is 24 years old, he’s 7-2 and he trains out of Longo and Weidman MMA. He is good buddies with Aljo and Merab and stated “Aljo and Merab kind of tailored their summer to my camp to be there for me” so he’s really getting high level training and coaching. This will be his second attempt at DWCS. He fought back in 2020, and got dealt Melsik Baghdasaryan. He got out wrestled in that fight, but made it to a dec with a killer. Shortly after that he got COVID. He states that he was actually very sick and it took him a while to recover. His training with aljo and Merab has been focused on his wrestling and he says he won’t be denied. Kid has legit title aspirations and is already thinking about being double champ. Aljo had to say this about training with him “Dennis is an exciting fighter,” said Sterling. “If there’s two words to describe him it’s definitely ‘heavy hitter.’ That guy has dynamite in his hands, and they call him ‘Bazooka’ for a reason.”
Romero is 26 years old, he’s 6-1 with his 1 loss coming to pretty good comp in Jonas Flok. He did lose that fight by TKO. He’s a wrestler out of California and he comes in super aggressive. He wings the over hand right and follows through right into a double
Leg. He will switch to a single and chain wrestles nicely. Hits hard, but he always uses the strikes to set up his takedowns. In his one Dec win he slowed down in the third pretty significantly. He trains at team alpha male
This is a really good fight. If Romero can get it to the ground he can find success. Bazooka has been training with some of the best wrestlers in the game though, and you have to think that will pay off. Bazooka has the superior striking and I think he gets the finish here
Acacio Dos Santos vs Anton Turkalj
This is a set up fight. Anton has the look and the Bravado the UFC is looking for and they gave him a layup. Acacio is a tough dude, but he has so many holes defensively. He swings wildly in the pocket taking two to give one. Not impressed by his performances against low level comp. Anton has advantages in all areas. He gets the round 1 ko
Joe Pyfer vs Ozzy Diaz
Pyfer is 25 years old and is 8-2 in his career. His last loss was to Dustin Stolzfus on the contender series. He got taken down and injured in the process. Stolzfus takedowns are no joke. Pyfer is very good friends with Andre Petroski and since his loss and recovery from his injury he has been rededicated to the sport. He moved gyms and is training with the best to be the best. He is a very strong dude. Hits hard, very hard inside leg kick. Good grappler and he’s learning from one of the UFCs best
Diaz is the current LFA champ. He’s 31 he’s won 5 in a row and finished all of them; four of them in the first round. He’s a good striker that likes to stay in your face. He’s a well rounded fighter and says this opportunity is 12 years of hard work coming together
I like Pyfer here. I see a lot of love for Diaz and for good reason. He’s fought high level comp and impressed against them. I think Pyfer will be too physically strong and the work with Petroski pays off. Pyfer ends up pounding him out
