PFL 2
Jamelle Jones vs Renan Ferreira
Jamelle Jones used to fight at 205 and lost on contender series to Mike Rodriguez. He also has a loss to ufc fighter William knight. Jones was right on the cusp of a ufc contract but wanted to see if he could win that million dollars in PFL first. Before ultimately losing to Bruno by tko he was on a 3 fight winning streak with all wins by ko in round 1. He is extremely strong and a great hammer. However he is not the best nail. He tapped to strikes against William knight and he couldn’t get any offense going against Bruno in his last fight.
Ferreira was on a bit of a run last year. He beat the shit out of Seumanutafa and KOd Stuart Austin in 31 seconds in his last fight. Before that he tapped out to werdum and then went on to win that fight by tko (Ref didn’t see the tap) and he also beat Jared vandaraa by sub. His last loss was because he dqd due to illegal strikes. Well rounded fighter
This is another bad matchup for Jones. Ferreira is massive with an 85 inch reach. He will have a 10 inch reach advantage in this fight. Jones is dangerous and can beat a ton of heavyweights in the PFL, but Renan will make Jones quit. Ferreira ITD is the play and possibly by sub
Ante Delija vs Matheus Scheffel
Delija is an absolutely massive fighter out of Croatia. His only two recent losses are two Bruno Cappelozza and he made it to decision against him in his last fight. Before that he beat a very tough Golstov by decision and before that he beat cole by ko. Delija is an aggressive fighter with real strong shots. He is also very heavy on top. He used his wrestling to beat Golstov. Fought a smart fight. Always a danger to knock you out. Very good wrestling and strong as all hell
Scheffel or “Buffa” is a big dude with power in his hands. He lives and dies by the sword. He has 10 wins by tko and has lost 4 times by tko. He’s 3-2 in his last 5 with his losses being by a split decision and a tko loss to Azamat on DWCS. He won his last fight by tko round 1. Buffa has a tendency to lunge in with wild hooks. He doesn’t throw many straight punches rarely uses a jab. Relies on power to win fights
Delija is the better fighter here. I expect him to take Buffa down and finish him. Only chance Buffa has is a quick tko round 1 and it could happen. Delija much better though
Denis Golstov vs Sam Kei
This fight is not close. Golstov is -500 right now and that should be WAY higher. Feel confident putting Golstov on all parlays
Bruno Cappelozza vs Stuart Austin
Bruno smashes. Bruno tko round 1 easy easy money
Adam Keresh vs Klidson Abreu
Keresh is a monster and has fought some good comp such as kirill and finished him in the first round. Keresh was last seen on pfl challenger series where he won by tko in the first round. That was his first fight in 3 years and he was able to get it done. Now that the cob webs are knocked off a bit he can be a problem.
Klidson is a former ufc 205 pounder. He was much better suited for 205. He looks soft at heavyweight and I honestly think he’s at heavyweight out of laziness. He got taken down off a kick and finished in his last fight. He was knocked out cold by Jones ground and pound
I see this fight being very similar to the Jones fight. Keresh will get him down and finish him with brutal ground and pound
Chris Wade vs Lance Palmer
Wade lost a tough fight to Movlid in the pfl championship last year. Before that he won 3 in a row coming off that loss to Loik. He was able to turn the tides against the wrestling onslaught of Dizy and knockout Arman Ospanov. In his last fight wade used his wrestling and scrambles to beat Jenkins. Wade also has a decision loss to Islam makhachev which showed him constantly scrambling from bottom. I was relatively impressed just based on how good Islam is. Wade was getting beat by Arman prior to landing a headkick that ultimately led to the finish. Wade more than anything is a tough dude and will never quit
Lance Palmer is a two time pfl champion. Last year he had some bad luck in some bad matchups. Running into the wrestling of bubba Jenkins and Movlid. He’s super well rounded, has been around forever and has been posting pictures of him training with the best in the world. This includes Cody no love, Dan Ige, Joey B, Pettis…. Palmer is a wrestler, we just didn’t get to see much of it his last 2 fights. He hits hard, has worked a lot on his striking and credits a lot of that to Frankie Edgar
This fight is so hard to pick. I think it’s lined perfectly. Slight lean toward Wade at the moment, but that could change as we get closer to the fight
Brendan Loughnane vs Ryogi Kudo
Besides the loss to Movlid Brendan Loughnane hadn’t lost since 2017. He beat Bill Algeo on the contender series, but didn’t get the contract. Looked excellent against Moraes. He beat Tyler diamond in a fucking war. Both men showed heart cardio and all around mma games. Loved seeing Loughnane get pushed like that and came out on top. He fought his ass off against Movlid and took the champ to a split decision
Ryogi is a decent fighter, but he hasn’t fought anyone. He’s coming off a loss and it kinda makes me think the pfl was having trouble finding fighters for the tournament.
Loughnane wins this one easy and pays off his huge -500 price tag
Bubba Jenkins vs Kyle Bochniak
Jenkins a wrestler has super impressive wins over lance palmer (2 time pfl champ) and Bobby Moffett. Jenkins uses his superior wrestling to get all his wins. He is super athletic. Between his athleticism and wrestling he almost always wins round 1. He lost his last fight against the always tough Chris Wade. I’m not taking too much away from him in that loss. Wade was ready for that wrestling and never stopped scrambling, reversing and going for subs.
Bochniak is a former ufc alumni with impressive wins over Barzola and Brandon Davis. He lost 3 in a row to get the boot from the ufc. His 3 losses were all by decision and all against tough comp. Since leaving the ufc he has won 3 in a row including wins over Marcus Brimage and Carlton minus. He didn’t look great against the very one dimensional minus. Won a close decision in that fight and ate a lot of punches. One thing I did like was his use of calf kicks, but he doesn’t move his head when he throws. Very hitable
Bochniak is no joke and is hard to put away, but he won’t have an answer for the faster, more athletic Jenkins. Jenkins used wrestling to beat Kyle up for 3 rounds
Alejandro Flores vs Saba Bolaghi
Flores hits hard is very aggressive. He has nice kicks and good cardio. He’s been around a long time and lost to Rafael Alves on DWCS. He won his last fight by split decision to Carl Deaton. Not the best look
Saba is a German wrestler who holds multiple wrestling titles. Dude is a monster. He’s been fighting mma since 2014 and has a record of 14-2-1. He doesn’t have the best level of comp, but he has shown the wrestling and power striking you would expect from an athlete of this level
Saba is a slight dog and I think that line is off. His wrestling alone should be enough to get it done against Flores. Saba is a nice place all the way up to -150 or so
Boston Salmon vs Sheymon Moraes
Boston Salmon has really fallen on some tough times. He was knocked out by Khalid Taha and then followed that up with another first round ko by Randy costa. He won his last fight, but only because his opponent kneed him in the head when he was down. Salmon got rocked badly by a punch that brought him to a knee. He then was cracked by a flying knee to the head. He was out cold, and actually hurt very badly. This was not a regular ko. This was a scary one. He has since turned it around and won a great fight against Do Gyeum Lee. He showed toughness in that fight and set up his power strikes perfectly.
Appearance wise Moraes looks like a world beater. He’s won 2 in a row both by finish. Prior to that he lost 3 in a row, but this dude has fought very very tough comp in his career. He has great submissions and he has power on the feet. Only loses to top tier
I like Moraes to get the finish here. I still don’t trust bostons chin. Moraes is a beast and will show it against the middle of the road Boston
