UFC Vegas 58 is in the books and we went +3.66 units on the night! We hit some really nice bets and we also made a few mistakes. The losses this week were interesting, because we didn’t just lose. The fighter we picked got obliterated. It’s actually less frustrating to lose this way. For one an idiot judge didn’t cost us money and it either means we were completely wrong on our read (which we weren’t and I’ll explain why) or the opposing fighter leveled up or showed something we haven’t seen before. Losses are all learning experiences and I know of at least one fighter on this card that I will be betting on going forward.
We’ll deal with the bad and the ugly first.
We didn’t hit any props this week. Looking back I’m less upset at the bets we lost than on the opportunities we passed on. Shevchenko by Dec was such a good prop and we should have been on it. Same could he said for Onama inside the distance. Should have been hammer spots for us
Karl Roberson was a bad bet. He went in exactly how I expected. I thought he would look to grapple in this fight and he did. Kennedy has shown limited grappling in his career to this point and Roberson has some decent subs. Krause saw it too and that was their game plan. Problem is it didn’t work at all. Roberson got reversed and even worse he gassed out right away. He went back to his corner after round 1 a defeated fighter. We have seen this in him before. Bad bet on our part. Should have just been a stay away fight
Ronnie Lawrence got dominated in the wrestling. Kakhramonov looked incredible. He was able to take Lawrence down at will and beat him up. Even when he didn’t have a the best positioning on his takedowns he was able to muscle Lawrence down. His cardio was incredible as well. Can’t be too mad at this one because Kakhramonov came out and showed how legit he is. Bet on fighter going forward.
Tresean Gore got knocked the hell out. He wasn’t looking terrible up until the KO. He was able to deal with the wrestling of Brundage, he was being more aggressive and was finding a home for that jab. The one constant though, was that he was getting hit consistently by the overhand right of Cody. That was not a lucky punch. That was consistent throughout the round and it finally hit the off button. I think that’s a 50/50 fight in hindsight, with a finish in the majority of them for both sides. The under was the play
Now let’s focus on what we got right and what lead to our winning night!
Aimann Zahabi proved me right. Turcios is so bad and it was very clear in tape that Zahabi would be able to hit this kid. This fight was never in doubt. Turcios couldn’t hit Zahabi and was getting pieced up the entire fight. We didn’t get the Ko prop, but we did win 3 units on this
Caio is who we thought he was. Dude is a monster. Out grappled Petrosyan and looked dominant in his Dec win. Petrosyan did a good job defending the subs, because Caio was a constant threat. My one worry is he looked a little tired in the 3rd. Caio is still my guy and I can’t see betting against him anytime soon
Said is the real deal. We said in our write up that he would piece up Andrade and that’s exactly what he did. His striking is just on a different level. He is a real problem for just about everyone
Shevchenko did exactly what we thought and we were gifted one with Mullarkey. I thought he lost, but hey we’ve been on the wrong side of that so much that I’ll take it.
+3.66 units and we are on to next week! I hope you guys are enjoying the content and I will have a lot more in store as always! Thanks for following guys!
